Bears Drool.

Here's a picture of my family watching the Bears get spanked by the Packers.
Notice no one is happy.
I use this blog a lot of the time to document what I do, the good, the bad, the ugly.
I had some faith this year.
Why do I continue to be a Chicago Bears fan? I just don't even know.

Happy Birthday Mom!

January 22nd was Mom's birthday. We celebrated with dinner at her restaurant of choice, Outback. This was the second time she was able to enjoy dinner outside the house since her surgery in October. She did very well and was able to enjoy her favorite meal that night.

The next day we all gathered at her house to have pizza and cake.
Even Baby Marshall came.

We held hands.
Happy Birthday Mom.
Hope you had a happy day.
Take joy in knowing you are healthy and remember that life is precious so do what your daughter says.

Holiday Party

January 14th was my "Holiday Party" for work. I have never attended a Christmas party after Christmas but it was nice because we were available. The party combined OR/ER/ICU/ENDOSCOPY/ANESTHESIA departments. The band was made up of doctors some that I work with on a daily basis, which was great to see. Adam got to meet my work peeps. And we got free drinks. Not bad.

An Ode to the Flossers

I love these 5 girls.
I met them exactly 8 years ago today.
I got on a plane and flew to a place where pixie dust was all you needed to make a dark day bright.
Yah, I may have complained A LOT.
But you know, at times there was A LOT to complain about.
But I wouldn't have traded
my plaid shirt
Wrangler jeans
and construction boots
for the anything.
Because when I came home, I came home to the best darn roommates a girl could ever have!
Miss you all.
In Floss.

New Year's Resolutions

Although, I try, I often break them. But I am a woman who loves to make lists, so I can't help it. And I should try, right! ? RIGHT!

1. I am going to start jump roping. I rarely exercise, I hate it. It just annoys me. I get bored. I get hot. My head hurts. It doesn't make me feel better. So I have bought myself a jump rope and will try to get my heart pumping somewhat. I do not know why I think this is a good idea, but it's worth a try.
2. I want to read more. There used to be a time where I could have 3 books going at once, pick them up, and know exactly where I was when I stopped reading the day before. Now I find myself re-reading pages and falling asleep finding the book on my chest hours later. To try and fix this issue we are buying more lighting. I blame the no reading thing on poor lighting in our home so we will see what we can do to get this resolution going.
3. I want to be more up to date on current events in this country and world. I know nothing about nothing. And I want to know something. I have made my home page CNN and have been trying to force myself to glance at it for 2-3 minutes to see if anything strikes my fancy, before heading to Facebook.com. I have also subscribed to TIME magazine. So far 0 of 3 issues have been read, to be honest, but they all came before 2011. Just saying.
4. I want to start volunteering for something. After careful consideration, I have chosen what I will do. I will join a literacy team. I will teach an adult to read. Not the same reading I would do in Resolutions 2 and 3, much simpler, I am sure. Much more gratifying.
5. I would like to start sampling some different churches in our area. It's hard to find a new church, one you fit in, and one that fits you. I would like to try.

And there you go, my new year's resolutions...

Christmas!!

Christmas Eve was hosted by Adam and I this year. All together we had 16 people. It was a night of appetizers. We had ribs, wings, dips, shrimp, macaroni and cheese, meatballs, and plenty of desserts. Thank goodness for Linda, my mom in law, who helped me decide what to do first and when. It's hard.
Our Live and Learn Lesson:
Make sure you have propane for the grill, before you host a party where you will be using your grill.
Christmas Day was spent at my Aunt Emilie and Uncle Bill's home.
It was soooooooo delicious!
We had a fabulous Christmas and hope you did too!

Christmas Card 2010

Here is this year's Christmas Card.
Featuring our new house, us, and the dogs.
No Christmas letter was sent. It is my wish for people to keep updated of us thru the blog, even though I know they do not. What are you gonna do?

"There's more, much more to Christmas, than candlelight and cheer. It's the spirit of sweet friendship, that brightens all the year. It's thoughtfulness and kindness, and hope reborn again. For peace, for understanding, and for good will to men." -John Greenleaf Whittier

Prettiest Candy You Ever Did See

Is it not??? I bought a Groupon for Anna Shea Chocolates and brought home this little number. They look much better in person.

Christmas Party

December 17th, was Adam's Christmas Party for work. It was at Scoozi's downtown. We made an overnight out of it staying at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, while mom was home with the pups. It was a lot of fun and the food was great. A must re-visit one day for dinner. They shut down the entire restaurant for this party. There was a photo booth, which as I am writing this I am reminded that my husband hasn't coughed up these pictures yet. We were in there 3 times. The last time we fit 3 couples in, hey I make friends fast, what can I say. But really, the guys he works with our super funny and I like their better halves so we had a good time chit chatting, and dancing to Michael Jackson.
Shamon!
