DWTS

Dancing With the Stars premiered last night.
Here's what I think.

Jennifer Grey-When they showed her clip before she danced and she spoke about Patrick Swayze I lost it. I thought her dance was just beautiful
Brandy-I thought she did excellent. And plus she is dancing with my fav, Maks.
Rick Fox- I just can't get over how tall he is.
Kyle Massey- I thought he was the cutest thing ever... loved everything about his dance.
Michael Sorrentino- ummm, terrible. best one liner of the night about "you have the guns, but you don't have the ammunition!"
David Hasselhoff- I am so sick of seeing this guy.
Margaret Cho- Not trying to be mean, but I nearly peed myself when she got caught up in those gold wing things.
Audrina Patridge- She's pretty. Kind of.
Florence Henderson- She was alright.
Kurt Warner- I forget how he did.
Bristol Palin- Better than I thought she'd be.
Michael Bolton- Hopefully he can loosen up a bit.

And there you have it... as I sit here on the couch and judge... never ever having the courage to do something like this..
I am rooting for...
"Nobody puts Baby in the corner!"
You go girl!

Chik-fil-A

Last Thursday, I drove 1 hour to meet Rachael and Camille for something Illinois has been waiting a long long time for.... Chik-Fil-A.
I got my share while living in Florida, but have been recently starting to miss it all over again. And now Naperville has a location and there are many more to come.
Nothing says breakfast like a chicken sandwich, french fries, and a lemonade.
Sweet.
Rumor has it people were camped out over night waiting for it to open. Now that is going a bit far, in my opinion, however it was worth the hour drive at 9:30a.m.

A Stump and Memories

My mom and dad are the original owners of their house now 35 years old. Just last week, one of the trees they planted back at that time was cut down. It took workers an entire day to get it down to this stump pictured above. They were forced to cut it down as the roots were so large they were growing right into the foundation of the house. I remember many picnics under that tree, many books being read, and many leaves it provided for us kids to jump in over and over again. Their backyard is definitely brighter and bare now without the shelter of the branches.

Cancelled

As the new TV season approaches, all I am seeing is advertisements for brand new shows. At this point, I don't want anything to do with them. Nothing annoys me more then when I get all involved in a brand new show, LOVE IT, and then they cancel it. Two examples below... my beloved October Road, with the girl from That 70's Show, and the boy from One Tree Hill. The show was based on the boy from One Tree Hill who goes off to NYC from the small town he grows up in, ends up writing a best selling novel based on the people in his hometown resulting in betraying every relationship he has with them. He comes back to the small town and his high school sweetheart is involved with his high school enemy... and so the dramatics begin. I loved it. It was cancelled.
More recently, a series that premiered last season, MERCY, is another show that was cancelled. The story line revolved around a nurse Veronica who is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after a tour in Iraq. She comes back to her normal life. This girl is smart, and she doesn't take crap from any of the doctors in this hospital. She of course goes over the boundaries as do all "hospital shows" do in TV land, but I think this show had some of the funniest one liners ever! One girl Chloe, in the show kills me... in the first episode, she comes strolling into the hospital on a high about how great nursing is and how much she loves it. The last episode she is dragging her feet complaining that nursing isn't all she thought it would. Hmmm. She was my favorite.

Anyways, its annoying. And I hate it... but here are the shows that are a definite, that I look forward too....

Dexter
American Idol
Dancing with the Stars
One Tree Hill
House
Criminal Minds

Clearly, TV runs my life.

Pup Cups

Our Labor Day started off at Starbucks.
It was unusual for 2 reasons.
Adam wasn't there. BOO.
AND
Pup Cups.
Starbucks man: "Do your dogs want Pup Cups?"
Me: "Well, I don't know? What's a pup cup?"
Starbucks man: "Why it's a small shot glass of whip cream!"
Me: "Well, then, they'd love one!"
Starbucks man: "Well, here you go!"

On a side note, I kinda wanted a pup cup... this simple act made it much easier to hand over the 4 dollars for my Pumpkin Spice Latte. (which by the way I am sooooo excited is back for fall!)

Brookfield Zoo

On Sunday, Andrea, Alisa, and I went to Brookfield Zoo. It was a great day. Not too hot, not too cold. Just perfect. My favorite zoo animal is the giraffe, followed by the gorilla, monkey, and elephant. I just think they are the cutest things! The only better thing are babies of any of these animals. My least favorite animal is the bat. I could have done without walking thru the bat cave. Either way, glad we went!

Cardiology Love

Last Friday night, I got together with some of my old cardiology buddies, in which we now entitle ourselves JHB, MD SC Past and Present. It was fun seeing each other again as we rarely get too. Something told me it was going to be a good night when Marie and I made our way to the bar, not knowing that the others were already sitting at a table. 30 minutes into sitting there chit chatting, they call asking where we were! Oops. Drinking beer at the bar is where we were!
So fun though, and can't wait til the next time!
Not pictured:
Ula, who had strep- Louise, who was throwing her own party- Susie, who's baby was cranky

Simon Says

This little ball of cotton is the newest addition to our family. Well, not Adam and I, but it's my mom and dad's new lil' pup Simon. He is half bischon and half, well, we aren't quite sure. He is an absolute doll. My mom stopped by right after picking him up to show me.
The little white ones tend to tug especially hard on my heart strings. And Simon is no exception. I love him already. I especially love that he is a smile in the lives of my mom and dad. They already think he is the greatest little thing.
Adam came home as soon as he could to see Simon. And wouldn't you know it, he loves him too!!

Patio Update

Isn't it just the prettiest thing you ever did see?
We are excited that the patio is now being put to use with our new patio set, minus the umbrella... which will have to wait till next year.
And this is our new grill.
The first meal.
Steak.
Quite enjoyable. I can't stop sitting here!

Keegan's Birth Story

So 2 years ago, I was preaching to the choir.... "I am never going to do this again."  "One kid is it for me."  "T...
